Old is gold

we have preserved old in a form that persisted even today for many thousand years - nearly 5000 or more. I am talking about Puranas - vedas upanishad ramayana mahabharata etc. They were written in language of extreme erudition and not spoken natural language. They do not survive for long and very local. None of the ancient relics exist today. We imagine names with places but nothing to prove. We only how they lived in ordinary sense. Those extreme erudites wrote in language that would survive for 5000 years progressively expanding in vocabulary written manually but spread locally in natural language that roamed in all locality played out as drama among living who had nothing to do with read or write.

How strange that even after 5000 long years they have survived unchanged even without a stroke dropped but being manually rewritten and available throughout Indian subcontinent. They are written as Slokas - two line verse in one leaflet surface with durable ink. Leaflet is called bhujya patra - skin of some kind of tree shaped as rectangles. The slokas in sequence tied together to make a chapter. The writer passed on to his fellow students for copy and reading allowed to locals in their language.

This method of disposition of writing is called Sruti. Sruti was written  and compiled in local languages by authors more appropriate for local intelligentia.

This form of spreading survive in original form as well contemporary media forever without change and with change almost forever.

Furthermore it creates a psychic media and words and vocabulary forever for scientific and technology propress in all intellectual endeavors.
